<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>This study was devoted to a new challenge for modern international humanitarian law (IHL), which is associated with the development of science and technology and the application of the latest technologies in the development and use of military weapons and methods of conducting military conflicts. Due to the rapid development of science and technology, international humanitarian law is unable to regulate in a timely and detailed manner issues related to the introduction of new weapons, as well as methods and means used to conduct military conflicts in a previously unknown plane, in the so-called cyberspace. However, international treaties regulate general provisions that can be applied to the development of modern-generation weapons, as well as methods and means of warfare at present and in the future. In addition, the principles of international humanitarian law, which are universal in nature and the norms of customary law, can be applied to the new conditions associated with the use of the latest technologies in the development of combat weapons.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>международное гуманитарное право</kwd><kwd>наука и техника</kwd><kwd>новое оружие</kwd><kwd>международный договор</kwd><kwd>конвенция</kwd><kwd>вооруженный конфликт</kwd><kwd>технология</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>international humanitarian law</kwd><kwd>science and technology</kwd><kwd>new weapons</kwd><kwd>international treaty</kwd><kwd>convention</kwd><kwd>armed conflict</kwd><kwd>technology</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">J.
